Iron crossarms refer to the angle irons fixed horizontally at the top of the poles, with porcelain bottles on them, used to support overhead wires.

The role of crossarms

Circuit breaker is an important component of the pole tower. Its role is to install insulators and hardware to support the conductors and lightning arresters, and keep them at a certain safe distance as required.

Classification of crossarms

According to the purpose, it can be divided into: straight crossarms; corner crossarms; tension crossarms.

According to the material, it can be divided into: iron crossarms; porcelain crossarms; synthetic insulation crossarms.

How to use

Straight crossarms: only consider the vertical and horizontal loads of the conductors under normal conditions without disconnection;

Tension crossarms: In addition to bearing the vertical and horizontal loads of the conductors, they will also bear the tension difference of the conductors;

Corner crossarms: In addition to bearing the vertical and horizontal loads of the conductors, they will also bear the larger single-sided conductor tension.

According to the stress of the cross arm, a single cross arm is used for straight poles or corner poles with an angle of less than 15 degrees, while double cross arms are used for corner poles, tension poles, terminal poles, and branch poles with an angle of more than 15 degrees.

The cross arm is generally installed 300mm from the top of the pole. The straight cross arm should be installed on the power receiving side, and the cross arm of the corner pole, terminal pole, and branch pole should be installed on the wire pulling side.
