Insulation Piercing Connector is designed and manufactured based on the "wedge" principle. The steel strand is locked in the wire clamp under the action of the wedge's splitting force. During installation, the steel strand is bent into the same shape as the wedge and installed in the wire clamp. When the steel strand is stressed, the wedge and the steel strand slide along the wall of the wire clamp toward the outlet of the wire clamp at the same time, and the more they are pulled, the tighter they are, and gradually become locked. The wedge-shaped structure has a grip on the wire that is proportional to the pulling force, has the characteristics of self-tightening, and is maintenance-free. The inner wedge is made of weather-resistant insulation reinforced engineering plastics, with an AC withstand voltage of 45KV, and it can maintain the pressure for 1 minute without breakdown and flashover.

Wedge-type insulated tension clamps are suitable for fixing and tightening overhead insulated conductors on tension insulators at the terminals or ends of tension sections of overhead insulated conductors rated 10KV and below.
